Matt Cornelius
Principal Architect
When Matt founded Formelier Architecture he did so with lofty ideals. After a decade working in the AEC industry, it became impossible to ignore the troubling recurrence of misunderstanding, miscoordination, and inefficiency between project team members. Many architects are convinced the solution is better drawings, employees, consultants, clients, or contractors but, in his experience, he has found this to be false.
In 2015, Michael Combest introduced Matt to the Agile philosophy as an alternative approach to project management. Prevalent in the software development industry, Agile promotes transparency, communication, and flexible workflow processes as a means to improve understanding between project team members and remove inefficiencies.

By aligning the firm's principles with those in Agile, Matt foresees a lighter, less costly, and less painful design and construction process for all stakeholders. He invites you to reach out and ask how Formelier can help your next project reach its full potential.
Michael Combest
Agile Development
Since 2014, Michael has been successfully adapting the software development industry’s tested and proved Agile and Scrum philosophies for design teams working in the AEC industry. Not just an application of software, these philosophies are an application of a human-centered, collaborative design process. The result of implementing these methodologies includes a better quality of life for stakeholders, a dramatic reduction in errors and rework, and increased efficiency and profitability.

Michael and Matt are pioneering the application of Agile methods in the AEC industry and are currently working on a certification track through The Job Hackers education and placement group. Based in San Francisco, Michael also regularly interacts with software engineers and continues to participate in the Agile movement by working with The Job Hackers (www.thejobhackers.org) and the TriV CoderDojo (trivalleycoderdojo.wordpress.com) club in Dublin, CA.
